This retrospective cohort study assessed overall survival among 1209 Black and White adults newly diagnosed with multiple myeloma at Cleveland Clinic from 2017 through 2023.

  • 2

Within 1 year of diagnosis, 58.2% of Black patients and 55.9% of White patients received triplet or quadruplet therapy.

  • 3

After overlap weighting, estimated 5-year overall survival was 59.8% among Black patients and 58.3% among White patients.

  • 4

In adjusted Cox regression, Black patients had a lower hazard of death than White patients through 5 years (adjusted hazard ratio, 0.73; 95% CI, 0.55-0.97).

  • 5

A sensitivity analysis limited to patients who received at least 1 multiple myeloma induction medication showed a similar association (adjusted hazard ratio, 0.74; 95% CI, 0.55-1.00).
